People volunteer because they understand that it is important to actively contribute to their community.  Becoming a viable, contributing member of the community is one way to have a positive impact on many lives. Aquire valuable skills, discover hidden talents, and meet new people through volunteering. Registered volunteers who contribute 30 hours or more during a tax year qualify for a $500 Louisiana State Income Tax deduction. NORDC offers four types of volunteers: Athletic Volunteers, Rec Center Volunteers, Special Event Volunteers, and Volunteer Groups.

Rec Center: There are short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities in our recreation centers. Opportunities include but are not limited to administrative assistance, program instructing, and program assistance.

Special Events: Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist with seasonal, or one-time special events.

Athletic Volunteer: Volunteer coaches serve as positive role models for our youth athletics participants and are needed year-round. Assistance is also needed for game operations.

Volunteer Groups: Community members, organizations, or organized groups of 5 or more are welcome to spearhead a specific volunteer project, program, or assist with special events.

NORDC Volunteer Requirements:

• At least 13 years of age at the start of the volunteer assignment
• Complete a volunteer application 
• Submit a criminal background check, clearance from other parishes if required
• Willingness to adhere to written description of responsibilities for each position or assignment
• Ability to serve the community in a respectful, informative manner

NORDC Volunteer Coach requirements:

Tackle and Flag Football

• Submit a volunteer application
• Submit and clear a background check
• Complete USA Football Level 1 Tackle Certification  and submit certificate
• Complete SafeSport online training and submit certificate
• Attend all clinics, trainings and coaches meetings

Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Soccer, Softball, Track & Field, Volleyball

• Complete and submit a volunteer application
• Submit and clear a background check
• Complete SafeSport online training and submit certificate
• Attend all clinics, trainings and coaches meetings
