  • Temporary Road Closure at Joe W. Brown Park

    Temporarily CLOSED

    Please be advised that due to necessary bridge repairs, a portion of the roadway at Joe W. Brown Park will be temporarily closed. This closure allows for the safe passage of two-way traffic around the construction area & ensures the safety of park visitors and crews. The repairs are expected to take some time, and we will provide regular updates as the project progresses.

Make an Impact in Your Community

Volunteering with NORD allows you to contribute to your community, develop new skills, and gain valuable experience. Opportunities are available for individuals, groups, and organizations across a variety of programs and events.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Recreation Centers: Short-term and long-term roles include administrative support, program assistance, and instructing classes.
  • Special Events: Assist with seasonal and one-time events throughout the year.
  • Athletics: Volunteer coaches and game day assistants help youth athletes succeed while serving as positive role models.
  • Outdoors: Support activities such as canoeing, fishing, and outdoor programs.
  • Adopt A Park: Help maintain and improve your local park through community service projects.
  • Volunteer Groups: Organizations or groups of five or more can lead projects or assist with programs and events.
  • Booster Clubs: Support NORD programs and facilities through neighborhood engagement and fundraising efforts.

Volunteer Benefits

  • Individuals contributing 30 hours or more in a tax year may qualify for a $500 Louisiana State Income Tax deduction.
  • Gain experience, develop skills, and connect with the community.

Requirements

Required to Volunteer
  • Minimum age 13
  • Complete a volunteer application
  • Clear a criminal background check
  • Follow the responsibilities outlined for each assignment
  • Serve the community in a respectful and professional manner

Volunteer Coach Requirements

Tackle and Flag Football:

  • Complete application and clear background check
  • USA Football Level 1 Tackle Certification
  • SafeSport online training
  • Attend all clinics, trainings, and coaches meetings

Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Soccer, Softball, Track & Field, Volleyball:

  • Complete application and clear background check
  • SafeSport online training
  • Attend all clinics, trainings, and coaches meetings
