Volunteering with NORD allows you to contribute to your community, develop new skills, and gain valuable experience. Opportunities are available for individuals, groups, and organizations across a variety of programs and events.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Recreation Centers: Short-term and long-term roles include administrative support, program assistance, and instructing classes.
- Special Events: Assist with seasonal and one-time events throughout the year.
- Athletics: Volunteer coaches and game day assistants help youth athletes succeed while serving as positive role models.
- Outdoors: Support activities such as canoeing, fishing, and outdoor programs.
- Adopt A Park: Help maintain and improve your local park through community service projects.
- Volunteer Groups: Organizations or groups of five or more can lead projects or assist with programs and events.
- Booster Clubs: Support NORD programs and facilities through neighborhood engagement and fundraising efforts.
Volunteer Benefits
- Individuals contributing 30 hours or more in a tax year may qualify for a $500 Louisiana State Income Tax deduction.

- Complete a volunteer application
- Clear a criminal background check
- Follow the responsibilities outlined for each assignment
- Serve the community in a respectful and professional manner

Volunteer Coach Requirements
Tackle and Flag Football:
- Complete application and clear background check
- USA Football Level 1 Tackle Certification
- SafeSport online training
- Attend all clinics, trainings, and coaches meetings
Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Soccer, Softball, Track & Field, Volleyball:
- Complete application and clear background check
- SafeSport online training
- Attend all clinics, trainings, and coaches meetings
