Kite Day

Bring your friends and family to our Annual Kite Day!  Prizes for fastest kites, best decorated, and more!  Bounce Houses, snacks, crafts, and music.  No admission cost and open to all.  2023 event date coming soon

Easter Eggstravaganza

Family-friendly Easter egg hunts at select NORD parks. Meet the Easter Bunny, and find eggs filled with candy and prizes. Event also features face painting, space walks and field games.  2023 event date coming soon

Superhero Family Fun Walk

Join the FitNOLA Superhero Run! This 1-mile walk/run is for youth of all abilities between the ages of 4- 18. Come dressed as your favorite superhero and be ready to have fun while getting out and moving! This event is focused on healthy living and getting up and moving! FREE! Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park is a seasonal program that features family-friendly, free outdoor movie screenings at NORD playgrounds for residents across the City. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to visit with family and friends and participate in fun activities before the movie. Movies in the Park is free and open to the public. Movie goers are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics. Movies begin at sunset, between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., and will be moved indoors if there is rain. View our Rain Policy  Due to the current pandemic, patrons must make reservations to attend an event at https://nordc.org/calendar/.  Each event is limited to a capacity of 125 people (up to 6 people per group).  Reservations will open 7 days before each Movies in the Park event.   

Movies in the Park -  COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Registration is required. Please include all members all adults (18+), teens (13 – 17), and children (12 and younger) of the group.
  • Families will have designated place to set up for movie.  Blanket, chairs, snacks welcome.
  • Social distancing required between families.
  • Mask  required when indoors and leaving designated Movies in the Park family area to go to restroom and/or concession stand.

Family Fit Fest:  Play. Bike. Fly. Explore.

There's plenty to do and experience at our Spring Family Fun Fest including with a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Prepare healthy snacks. Participate in interactive, fun play. Explore nature with an engaging nature walk. Support a local non-profit organization by making a donation and enjoy a scenic round trip bike ride from Milne Rec Center to Lake Pontchartrain. Bring or make a kite to participate in the Kite Flying Contests. Come and enjoy food, music, and entertainment.  

National Park and Recreation Month

Every July NORD celebrates Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) that highlights and all the ways parks and recreation has the power to transform our daily lives. From providing places to get fit and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature, a close-to-home community park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve quality of life.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration

A celebration held during National Hispanic Heritage Month which recognizes Hispanic heritage through a community festival featuring music, food, and art.

Halloween Spooktacular

We host an annual Halloween Spooktacular event at multiple NORD locations across the City to provide our youth a safe and fun environment to celebrate Halloween.  Each event is family-freindly and features carnival games, bounce houses, costume contests, prizes or raffles, and of course, track or treating for candy!  This event is FREE and open to all.   Attendees are encourage to bring a trick or treat bag for goodies.
