NORD Teens
“For Teens. By Teens.”
NORD Teens are doing BIG things, and we want you. If you are 13 to 17 years old and live in Orleans Parish, this is the place to be! NORD Teen Programming provides diverse academic, professional and enrichment-based programming throughout the year. While our NORDTeen Programming is shaping future leaders, we’re also having fun along the way with free recreational events including dances, pool parties, annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, and community service activities!

Teen Council
The NORD Teen Council is a year-long enrichment-based curriculum aimed towards empowering teens through event planning, character development and monthly recreation opportunities. Additionally, these promising youth earn service hours through teen-oriented social action and community service projects.
Teen Council meeting dates: Every 2nd Saturday beginning September 13, 2025.
Meeting Duration: 2 hours; starting at 10am-12pm

Teen Internship Program
In NORD's Teen Internship Program, teens ages 13 - 17 can earn money while exploring careers and entrepreneurship, obtaining job skills and/or receiving academic support. All participants must join NORD's Teen Council, attend upcoming teen events, and complete at least one community service project during the program. *Teen must be an active member of Teen Council to participate in the Teen Internship Program. Space is limited.
The Teen Internship is a 6-week period. Open to teens ages 13-17 years. Flexible work schedule from Monday-Saturday.
- Schedules are 2 to 3 days a week up to 6 hours per week.
- Locations – operating indoor pools, Administration Office, Athletics Department, Eastbank and Westbank Recreation Centers.

Athletics Support
- Assist with field set up and breakdown
- Work on chain crews during games
- Operate score clock
- Assist with team and player check in
- Greet customers with and provide excellent customer service
- Assist with concessions
- Assist with cleaning concession stand area after events
- Set-up and break-down equipment before and after events
- Clean all equipment and utensils after events
Rec. Centers Support
- Clerical tasks (check in, filing, etc.)
- Food distribution for meal program
- Assistance during events
- Learn career readiness skills that are transferable skills related to e-sports.
- Gain knowledge and awareness of tasks
- Receive preparation and information about careers in the gaming industry and beyond.
- Night cleanliness of facility
Aquatics/Pre-Jr. Lifeguard Training
- Interns learn what it takes to become a lifeguard and will receive a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that will prepare for the Jr. Lifeguard Program
Cultural Dept Admin. Support
- Assist with filing and clerical work
- Receive knowledge through hands-on planning for Holidays in the Park (HITP)
- Provide support and resources to visitors and constituents at Movies in the Park sites.
Teen Career Camp
The Teen Career Camps offer local teenagers ages 13-15 career exploration and job preparation skills as well as financial literacy training and character development. Breakfast, lunch and field trips are provided. Limited spots are available. Teen Career Camps are held for six (6) weeks during June-July. Registration is required. CLICK HERE to get started.
Teen Centers
Teen Centers are a fun and safe place where teens from local communities can socialize and have positive interactions with peers.
Teen center locations:
Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 4-8 pm.
Teen Programs at NORD
Teen Council Special Events
Teen Council events are designed for teens and by teens. Events offer all teens a great way to have fun in a good manner. Events are free and open to New Orleans residents ages 13-17 unless otherwise noted. Refer to our calendar to keep up with upcoming events.
Annual Sneaker Ball
All Orleans Parish teens, ages 13-17, are invited to celebrate a happy and safe Mardi Gras with members of the NORD Teen Council. Event features music led by a local DJ, a photo booth, food, a special musical guest and election of a Teen Council Mardi Gras Court. Formal attire is required.
