NORD to Close Outdoor Pools, Summer Camps Ahead of Tropical Storm Cindy

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission announced that all outdoor pools and summer camps will be closed from Wednesday, June 21, 2017 through Thursday, June 22, 2017. NORD’s administrative office (5420 Franklin Ave, New Orleans, LA 70122) and all Recreation Centers will remain open. At this time, the City is monitoring Tropical Storm Cindy which could impact southeast U.S. and Gulf coasts, including New Orleans, beginning tonight.

Mayor Landrieu, City Officials, NORD, and Community Partners Celebrate 2017 Summer Programming at Rosenwald Recreation Center

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials, the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission, and NORD community partners and sponsors celebrated NORD’s robust 2017 summer programmatic offerings. Earlier this month, NORD began facilitating 41 summer youth camps, 13 teen camps and a host of summer programming opportunities, including summer aquatics programs throughout the city that will focus on water safety skills and education.
