On Wednesday, March 8, the Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association (LRPA) honored NORDC with the Excellence in Parks and Recreation award (Class I) at its annual conference. This award recognizes Louisiana Parks and Recreation organization for providing outstanding recreational opportunities for its citizens. This is NORDC’s first year receiving the award.
Organizations are judged on their ability to address the needs of those they serve through the collective energies of citizens, staff and elected officials. Scoring is based on programs offered to its citizens, organization model, community engagement, and partnerships. Organizations are also scored on economic impact and investment to facilities and events offered to citizens.
This is an outstanding recognition for the City of New Orleans, and the NORDC Team. NORDC has worked diligently to become a sustainable and innovative organization that transforms lives. Together, with the community NORDC will continue to advance the physical, mental, and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic, and cultural experiences.
The Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association (LRPA) works to enhance parks and recreation services throughout the state of Louisiana through education, networking and resources.
