NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, February 2, 2018, the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission and Chevron will host the 4th annual Teen Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball. Led by NORD Teen Council, the Masquerade Ball is free and open to teens ages 12-17. The Ball will take place at Delgado Community College in the Student Life Center, 916 Navarre Ave. from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Complimentary appetizers and refreshments will be available. NORD staff, volunteers, and security will be in attendance.
Similar to the adult parade Krewes, the 2018 Teen Council Royal Court will be selected and crowned. Teens will have the opportunity to be exposed to a formal atmosphere, and an event they can enjoy during the Mardi Gras season other than parades. Teens may RSVP for the Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball by visiting here. Formal attire is required.
NORD has collected over 50 dresses and suits from the local community for teens that may need formal attire to attend. Items will be available for pick up on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Milne Recreation Center between 4:00-8:00 p.m. Items will be given on a first come, first served basis. Donations will be collected until Monday, January 22, 2018. Please call (504) 658-3052 for more information or to donate gently worn dresses, suits, and shoes.
Powered by Chevron, the NORD Teen Council is a year-long enrichment based curriculum aimed towards empowering teens, ages 12-17, through event planning, character development, and monthly recreation opportunities. Additionally, teens earn service hours through teen-oriented social action and community service projects. Teen Council registration is open year-round.
